Can you help us?

Our beloved 1887 New Park Centre has been a home for creativity, wellbeing, and community for over 130 years.  Now, its original Victorian roof is reaching the end of its life

and we urgently need your help to replace it.

For decades, we’ve patched and repaired. But time has taken its toll, and the only way to secure New Park’s future is to replace the roof in full. This major project will take three years and three phases to complete, allowing us to stay open and keep serving you every step of the way.

Once the roof is renewed, we’ll be ready to invest in the improvements our community wants and deserves - including better café, bar, and restroom facilities. But first, we must protect the building itself.
Every delay means higher costs. The time to act is now.

“The range of groups here is truly inspiring. Together, we can RAISE THE ROOF and secure New Park Centre as a vibrant home for culture, support, and community for decades to come.”

Robert Long, Chair of Trustees.

Why your support MATTERS.

This isn’t just about fixing a roof,  it’s about preserving the heart of our community.

  • Local people across Chichester, West Sussex and Hampshire

  • Over 90 community groups and 130,000 annual visitors who use New Park for learning, creativity, health, and connection.

  • Schools, colleges and exhibition partners.

  • Over 180 volunteers who gain skills and connections through giving us and you their time.

  • Local support services such as Waythrough Pathfinder mental health peer support, Bereavement Care, Relationship Sussex, Epilepsy Action,  Gamblers Anonymous and the Aldingbourne Trust - all of whom rely on our building as a safe, central base.

  • Local businesses who benefit from increase footfall

  • Future generations who will enjoy arts, cinema, and community life in a welcoming, accessible space

This investment will safeguard New Park for decades to come, ensuring it remains an accessible, inspiring, and inclusive place where people of all ages and backgrounds can thrive.

Why RAISE THE ROOF is needed NOW?

With 47 years left on our lease with Chichester District Council, replacing the roof now is the only way to secure New Park’s future for decades to come. This isn’t just about fixing a roof - it’s about protecting the beating heart of Chichester’s community life. But without your help to RAISE THE ROOF, we cannot secure its future for generations to come.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

How you can help

As a charity-run community centre, we receive no ongoing funding and must cover our day-to-day running costs ourselves. To RAISE THE ROOF and secure the future of this vital space, your support will make the difference. Every gift, large or small, will help keep New Park Centre safe, welcoming, and thriving for the thousands who rely on it each year.

Together, we can RAISE THE ROOF and ensure New Park Centre continues to be a vibrant home for community, culture, and connection - today, and for generations to come.

Every tile. Every pound. Every act of kindness counts.

Thank you for helping to RAISE THE ROOF.
